STI (GUM) ADVICE

There are some STIs, like chlamydia, that you could be carrying without having any symptoms. This infection can affect fertility, so it’s important to make use of the sexual health services available for free on the NHS.

Sexual Health Services continue to provide Contraception, GUM test and treat and HIV treatment and care during COVID – 19 restrictions.

The service offer has been revised, currently there is no ‘drop in’ and patients are required to contact the service via the central booking line 0300 1234 154 Monday to Friday 9-5pm. The will be assessed/ triaged by a sexual health clinician as to whether they can be dealt with remotely or require a face to face appointment.

The service is now offering online STI testing kits. Lancashire residents can access a screen by completing a request form on http://lancashiresexualhealth.nhs.uk/

If you are worried regarding your sexual health feel free to make an appointment to see a doctor at the surgery or contact the local GUM clinic.

CONTRACEPTION

We are able to offer different types of contraception at the surgery and also provide;

  • Coil fitting service
  • Contraceptive Implant insertion and removal

In addition there is specialist clinic held on a Wednesday at Cottam Lane Surgery.

Contraceptive Pill Check - Patients already taking the contraceptive pill may no longer be required to attend for a pill check appointment. The contraceptive pill is available for over 16's direct from community pharmacies, please speak to a care co-ordinator who will arrange a referral to a pharmacy providing the service

Please return the completed form to reception where you can check your BP and Weight free of charge on the machine in the waiting room at both Cottam Lane and Geoffrey Street Surgery. Please attach the printed reading slip from the machine to your form before handing it in.
